Good data documentation is crucial for understanding what a dataset represents and what it can be used for. Each one of the 3,000+ datasets currently found on NYC Open Data is required to have an accompanying data dictionary that translates the complexity of a particular City operation for members of the public. NYC's Open Data Team has been working to improve and standardize data documentation of NYC Open Data datasets, and would love to hear your thoughts! As part of this workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to explore our proposed new data dictionary template, apply it in practice, and share your thoughts on how it can be further improved.
